WEILA has confirmed that the WKV553 wireless module supports Matter 1.2 Light device development and the related product certification process.
Based on the GigaDevice GD32VW553 wireless platform, WKV553 integrates 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth Low Energy 5.2 and a 32-bit RISC-V processor. A WKV553 development board is also available for hardware integration, wireless-function evaluation and project-level Matter development.
The module provides a practical wireless and processing platform for manufacturers developing Matter-enabled lighting products.

The GD32VW553 platform used by WKV553 has passed Matter 1.2 Light device certification, according to GigaDevice.
This provides a confirmed technical foundation for Matter lighting projects based on WKV553. Potential applications include:

It is important to distinguish the underlying platform certification from certification of the finished product.
The GD32VW553 platform certification does not automatically mean that every WKV553-based product is already Matter certified. Each finished lighting device must follow the applicable implementation, testing and certification procedures for its final hardware, firmware and device type.
Matter is an IP-based protocol that can operate over Wi-Fi and other supported network transports.
WKV553 supports 2.4 GHz IEEE 802.11 b/g/n/ax connectivity, allowing it to provide the Wi-Fi network connection for a Matter over Wi-Fi Light device.

Matter commonly uses BLE during the commissioning process. BLE establishes a short-range connection that helps the device receive the information required to join the target network.
